Drakensberg-Kruger Tour

Tour Itinerary :

Day 1  19/05 : Arrival at King Shaka Airport in Durban. Pick-up and transfer to your accommodation in Durban. Local pubs and restaurants are in walking distance from your B&B. (Dinner is not included)

Day 2 20/05 : After breakfast you can spend the day relaxing at Umhlangha beach, enjoying the beautiful views of the Indian Ocean and its stunning beaches. Another option for the day is an organized tour visiting the sites of Durban city, or a walk between zebra’s and giraffes in a nature reserve.(not included, rates available on request) Lunch & Dinner is not included

 Day 3  21/05 : 08:00 -10.00 We collect you from your accommodation in Durban and drive to the Midlands. It’s a 1.5 hour drive away from Durban.

10.00 We will visit the Nelson Mandela Capture site and explore the amazing Apartheid Museum, before stopping for some lunch (not included) in the area.

13.00 We will visit the Howick Falls a 100 meter high waterfall which is very spectacular. The quaint town of Howick also has a number of small craft shops and a shop selling vintage/antique items ranging from furniture to World war clothing, ammunition, medals and old coins.

14.00 Check into accommodation in the Midlands and enjoy the rest of the afternoon.

19.00 Dinner

 Day 4  22/05 : 7:00 Breakfast at our lodging before we depart for Underberg. Approximately a 1.5 hour drive from the midlands.

08:45 Make our way to meet our 4×4 vehicle to begin our tour up to the Sani pass into Lesotho. During this time your guide will give you a background of what the Pass was used for originally and now today. You guide will be open to answer any questions throughout and will stop at different points up the Pass, for photographs and breaks to stretch your legs. Upon reaching the South African border post your passport will be stamped and then there is an 8 kilometre drive which is called “No mans land”. Basically, an area which belongs neither to South African or Lesotho. Thereafter, we reach the Lesotho border post where passports are again stamped.

11:00 We begin our time in Lesotho where we visit the highest pub in Africa @ 2874 meters above sea level. Here you may enjoy a drink and lunch (not included). We will also visit the tiny Basotho village at the top of the Pass and enter into one of the locals homes to learn a little more about the culture of the Basotho people. .

14.00 We begin or descent from the Drakensberg mountain down back into South Africa and into Underberg.

16:00 Approximate arrival time back in Underberg where we will spend the night once again

after dinner.

Day 5  23/05 : 07:30 Breakfast at our lodging before departing for Giants Castle, a 3 hour drive. 11.30 We will meet our San Rock art interpreter and hiking guide and begin the hour to 1.5 hour hike to the San rock art display at Giants Castle cave.

14.00 Lunch and some rest in the late afternoon (not included). If you wish you may take a short walk down to the Bushman’s river and enjoy the tranquil sound of the flowing water.

19:00 Dinner at Giants Castle lodge.

Day 6  24/05 : 07:00 We will arrange a packed breakfast from Giants Castle before we depart for Royal Natal National Park approximately a 2.5 hour drive.

09:30 Once we arrive we will meet our San Rock art interpreter and hiking guide. We will do a 45 minute round trip hike to San Rock art with interpretation and great views of the Northern Drakensberg/Amphitheatre.

11.00 Depart Royal Natal national park and make our way to Nelspruit which is a 6.5 hour drive, we will stop on route for some lunch (not included).

18.30 Our guide will drop you in Nelspruit at a B&B where dinner will be served.(not included)

The second part of the tour starts here.

Day 7  25/05 :1 Pick up  at the accommodation in Nelspruit by the new guide.

Panorama tour with 4 Stops at Graskop, Lisbon Falls, Bourke’s Luck waterfalls, 3 Rondawels.  Lunch stop at a restaurant en route.

Arrive in Hoedspruit, dinner will be at the Bushpub.

We will spend the night at our accommodation by the river.

Day 8  26/05 : Early departure, we will leave for the Kruger Park in an open Game Viewer.

Breakfast pack is provided with fruit, yoghurt, nuts, fresh muffin and sandwiches.

Check in and stay at Satara Camp in bungalows.

Lunch is foreseen at one of the picnic sites in Kruger.

After lunch we go on evening drive around Satara to watch the big 5.

The day ends with a nice dinner braai under the stars at the camp.

Day 9  27/05 : Early in the morning we start a new tour with the open Game Viewer.

Breakfast pack provided, fruit, yoghurt, nuts, fresh muffin, sandwhich, biscuits, juice.

Lunch is foreseen at one of the picnic sites in the Kruger.

We will check in at about 15h30 at another camp in the Kruger Lower Sabie.

Evening Drive around Lower Sabie

Stay in Semi Luxury Tents on the river, where we will have the dinner braai under the starry skies.

Day 10   28/05 : • We start the last day with the open Game Viewer.

Breakfast pack is provided again. After the morning drive we leave the Kruger Park at
Malelane Gate. Our guide will drop you at Nelspruit International Airport,the tour ends here. Regular flights are executed by Airlink on a daily base for the flight to OR Tambo. (this flight is not included in your package)

Includes : All  road transports including fuel, tolls, driver and guide costs-all accommodations as nominated in the itinerary-all entrance fees-breakfasts in Durban-Breakfast and dinners in Midlands and Drakensberg-All meals at Hoedspruit and Kruger (breakfast packages-lunch-dinner incl. juice, coffee and water) as described in the itinerary-open game viewer at Kruger.

Excludes : All Fights- Lunch and dinner in Durban – Organized tours/events in Durban-lunches in Midlands, Lesotho and Drakensberg-Dinner in Nelspruit-beers,wines and alcoholic drinks-Items of personal nature-any other items not listed in the inclusion.

Pricing :the price per person is R42.500.00 per adult sharing. All prices are based on a per person sharing basis. Single person supplement is available on request.
